Dogs could be trained to sniff out the coronavirus in humans, as part of a government-funded trial launched last week. Dogs are already able to detect some cancers and other diseases; now researchers at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine will investigate whether they can smell Covid-19 in people too. Dogs “might provide speedy results as part of our wider testing strategy”, said Lord Bethell, the Minister for Innovation.
